Elizabeth Olsen (pronouns: she/her) is an intern practicing under the supervision of Dr. James Thatcher, licensed clinical psychologist (PSY#3386). She attends the Chicago School of Professional Psychology while working towards her Master’s in Forensic Psychology. She has counseling experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, anger, depression, and other life challenges. She also has experience in Juvenile Sex Offender Treatment. She mainly focuses on working with adolescents, teens, and young adults and in conjunction with their caregivers and family. She works from a cognitive-behavior theory orientation, but believes each client needs individualized treatment planning that fosters the best growth, including developing a strong therapeutic alliance, focusing on strengths, and how the individual learns best. She incorporates various types of treatment techniques including psychoeducation, motivational learning, and more. She is always eager to learn about each individual’s life and how best they can work together to develop change. She believes that with hard work and a personalized plan, change is always possible.
She is passionate about mental health and learning about others' world perspectives, personality, and culture. She believes the best way to work with any client is to understand them at all levels of their life. She is also passionate about reading various genres. In a similar regard she is passionate about traveling and have traveled most of the world, mainly throughout Europe and Africa. While she has traveled and lived in other states, and Ireland briefly, she was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and currently lives in the country with her three cats, three pugs, and six chickens.
